8 Shampooing Mistakes You Didn’t Know You Were Making

8 Shampooing Mistakes You Didn't Know You Were Making

1. Washing Hair Every Day.

Not everyone needs to wash their hair every day. Granted, if your hair is super oily then I recommend daily hair washing, but for others, you could be damaging your hair. Irritating your scalp and washing out all the natural oils with excessive hair washing.

2. Using the wrong Shampoos.

Using the correct shampoo for your hair type is essential as it can cause you problems such as dry hair, frizzy hair, flaky scalp oily scalp breakage or colour fade.

3. Skipping Conditioner.

Just as you would skip moisturizing your skin after toning it, you should not skip conditioner after shampooing as it can replenish the hair and moisturise it adding bounce and shine.

4. Still Using a Shampoo with Sulphates.

Sulphates can leave the scalp prone to irritation and strip too may oils out of your hair.

5. Using a Fancy Shampoo with Silicone.

Silicones are hydrophobic which mean they repel water when it does this to your hair moisture content is lost and protein bonds are less stable and more likely to break.

6. Washing in Super Hot Water.

Washing in hot water can leave your hair and scalp dehydrated and it can become frizzy and static. Washing hair in cold water seals moisture into the cuticles and closes the pores in your scalp and prevents dirt and excessive oil from entering.

7. Not Soaking Your Hair

Not soaking your hair before applying shampoo will mean your shampoo will not spread easily or lather up thus meaning you are not cleaning your hair properly.

8. Not rinsing properly.

One of the biggest mistakes of all. A build-up of the shampoo or conditioner can irritate the scalp and cause it to become oily.
